Dr. Chelsea Cooman

PT, DPT, L/ATC, USAW, CMPTPT

Chelsea earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Washington and her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences – Athletic Training from The Ohio State University. As a board certified and licensed athletic trainer in the state of Maryland, she is skilled in preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions for the athletic population. As a sports physical therapist, her skills include the ability to break down sport-specific movements in a physiologic and biomechanical way, allowing tailored interventions based on sport, equipment, and position requirements. This is vital in both the return of high level athletes back to the sports they love and taking steps to prevent injury in the future.

Chelsea is committed to keeping up with current research in order to practice evidence-informed physical therapy. To do this, she has additional certifications in dry needling as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist and USA Weightlifting as a USAW Sports Performance Coach. She is also a member of the National Athletic Training Association, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy.

Outside of True Sports, Chelsea is a mom and enjoys hiking, running, strength training, and breakfast.
