Dr. John Knowlton
PT, DPT
Dr. John Knowlton, PT, DPT has a passion for sports physical therapy. He has been strength training for over a decade and has competed in high level crossfit, olympic weightlifting, and powerlifting competitions at local, state, and national levels. Dr Knowlton’s experience as a competitive weightlifter and athlete allows him to understand his patients’ goals and what it takes to achieve them. His treatment philosophy involves graded exposure, manual therapy, and sport specific exercise to maximize potential and optimize human performance.
John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Radford University in Virginia. He went on to graduate with honors from Shenandoah University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. During his time at SU, he served as a faculty selected mentor to assist lowerclassmen in musculoskeletal courses and developed a strong background in manual therapy. He has obtained valuable experience in the outpatient orthopedic settings treating a variety of patients with neurological, vestibular, cardiopulmonary, and orthopedic impairments. John is currently pursuing his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and USAW-1 weightlifting certifications.
